Why I Got Insurance Even Before I Became a Financial Advisor

Being a freelancer sounds fun — time freedom, flexibility, no boss.

Pero let’s be real: wala rin tayong employer benefits.

No automatic SSS, no PhilHealth, no HMO.

And definitely, no retirement plan.

Kaya bago pa ako naging licensed financial advisor, I already got insured.

My first plan? A VUL I got from Insular Life in 2013. At that time, I didn’t know much. I just knew I needed to start somewhere.

The second one was a comprehensive health plan from Sun Life. Sun Fit and Well. 700k coverage. It was what I could afford then — and it gave me peace of mind... 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒ℎ𝑜𝑤.

Eventually, I learned na 𝐤𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐚 ’𝐲𝐨𝐧. So I got more coverage along the way.

By teaching. By writing about it. By creating tools, sharing stories, and making things easier to understand — not just for myself, but for others like me.
